Hi everyone, I´ve missed the lovely xanga community. i haven´t contributed in far to long. Sadly my internet time that remains is only 1:54.  I should not have taken time to write even that.

Anyway, I´m having so much fun in Spain and i want to stay.  What should I do next year everyone?  Should I get a real job?  Bum around here more?  That´s the big question of the day.  I´m working on trying to decided.

Its a fun month here right now:  Carnival.  You have to get dressed up in crazy costumes, listen to amateur singing groups in the streets, drink a lot, and eat strange seafood that may or may not qualify as actual food.  i.e sea urchins Should you eat those?

Also I went climbing here and its was so fun.  The place was absolutely beatiful.  From the top of the climbs you could see the beach and across from that Africa! It was gorgeous.

Ahhhh my dad is lost in Europe.  I think, or maybe lost in Chicago.  At any rate he's currently unaccounted for.  He told me he'd call me if the plans changed and no calls so I stood looking for bald men without success at the Cádiz station.  I'm sure he'll be found soon though.  "Musta" missed a connection somewhere along the line.

In other news I stole an English Christmas carol tape from my school today along with a pencil sharpener.  I plan to return both, but they were so tempting to take home that I had to do it.  It was not an electric pencil sharpener, so i'm sure it'll be a misdemeanor if I'm caught.

Also today I had my class read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.  I thought it would bring some interesting cultural elements into the class.  The students thought it was totally incomprehensible.  But anyway, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Hey everyone!  All yáll Vandy people are probably at home with your families for Thanksgiving week!  Yumm.  We´re planning a small thanksgiving dinner with our apartment friends.  the only turkey i´ve seen is in lunchmeat form though so we´ll see how that goes.  I´m bringing the bread and the homemade whip cream.

Today I went on board an oldtime Swedish ship that pulled up to the Cádiz harbor. It was less fun than it sounds.  There´s a music festival here this week though which is very fun. We saw a Swedish choir ensemble that stole things from people in the audience.  They gave the stuff back later though.

Also this week a student in my class said ¨What does oww-uusss-weee-fay mean?  that is the official phonetic alphabet by the way.  Can anyone guess what the word was??  I won´t leave you in suspense:  it was housewife pronounced according to Spanish pronunciation rules.  Yes folks, i´m saving the world from one bad pronunciation at a time.  Here´s another one for you riddle lovers:  pay-oh-play.  Take a wild guess!

I´ve started yet another new job! Yay, now i think i´m finally settled.  I´m teaching at a school in San Fernando, a pueblito just outside of Cádiz. It´s pretty fun although some of the classes I help with are support classes, so they are taught in Spanish. I´m sure i´ll learn a lot.

In other news I recently attended my first ever ¨botellon¨.  This is a phenomenon similar to the Kansas ¨field party¨ in which young people gather in a plaza with a bunch of other young  people and a bunch of liquor and stand around drinking it.  You mostly stand in a circle with your own group of friends, but at least once or twice you take a small walk about the plaza greeting with dos besos the other young people that you know.  Apparently botellon is quite a controversy here in Spain and several larger cities have banned it because it costs them millions of dollars each year to clean up the trash that everyone leaves behind in the plaza.

Next week stay tuned for wild Moroccan stories! I´m going to Africa!
